Onion Upside Down Cake (Vera Kowal)





Ingredients:

      6   Mdm Spanish onions
      3 tb Butter
      2 c  Flour
      4 ts Baking powder
      1 ts Salt
      1 ts Sugar
      1    Egg, beaten
      1 1/4 c  Milk

Methods :

Preheat oven to the 350 degrees.Grease a baking dish.Slice onions and the saute in butter, keeping in slices, if possible, until yellow and the soft. Let it cool.Sift flour, baking powder, salt and the sugar.Next you can add egg and milk. Batter you should be a little thinner than biscuit dough.Spread onion in the dish, slice touching slice. Pour batter on the top. Bake 25-30 minutes.Serve with the barbequed beef or roast beef.Provides 6.
